Snoop Dogg, now a coach on NBC's "The Voice", is adding his signature style to the competition by offering a legendary symbol of hip-hop history — the coveted Death Row Records chain. During the blind auditions, Dallas-born singer Georgia Starnes became the latest contestant to receive this unique gift as Snoop tried to convince her to join his team.
After her performance, Snoop pulled out all the stops, showing off the gold chain featuring the Death Row Records logo.
“Georgia, not only was I signed to Death Row Records in 1992, but I am now the owner, It’ll feel so nice around your neck.”
In season 27, Snoop Dogg has joined "The Voice" as a coach and is creating buzz with his custom diamond-studded Death Row Records chains. These gold pieces are more than just accessories; they represent a rich history in the world of rap and hip-hop.
The Death Row Records chain, decked out with its iconic logo, symbolizes the groundbreaking era of West Coast hip-hop. Originally founded in 1991 by Dr. Dre, Suge Knight, The D.O.C., and Dick Griffey, Death Row Records paved the way for some of the biggest names in the industry. Early on, the label contributed to the 1992 "Deep Cover" soundtrack, featuring Dr. Dre’s first solo track after NWA, with a young Snoop Dogg alongside him.
Snoop’s connection to Death Row runs deep. As one of the original artists signed to the label, he helped shape its legacy, with timeless hits that solidified his place in the rap world. Now, as the owner of Death Row Records, Snoop continues to honor the label’s legacy by passing on these symbolic chains to his "The Voice" mentees.
For contestants, receiving this diamond and gold chain isn’t just about joining Snoop’s team. It’s about becoming part of hip-hop history, where the Death Row Records name has reigned supreme. This season, Snoop Dogg is giving "The Voice" an extra dose of cool with these legendary chains, blending the world of music competition with the culture of hip-hop’s finest.
