This is the most common DIY ring sizing method. Here's how it works:
If the string overlaps between two sizes, round up to the larger size for a more comfortable fit. Make sure the string is pulled snugly but not too tight - you don't want to cut off circulation!

What if my measurement falls between two sizes?
If your diameter measurement lands between two ring sizes, we recommend sizing up to the larger size. It's better for rings to be slightly big rather than too small for comfort.
How tight should my ring fit?
The right fit is snug enough that the ring won't slip off or spin around on your finger. But it shouldn't be painfully tight or cut off circulation. You should be able to slide it on and off over your knuckle with only minor resistance.
Should I measure my dominant hand?
Yes, you should measure the finger on your dominant hand, as that finger is usually slightly larger. Most people wear wedding bands and engagement rings on their non-dominant hand though.
When is the best time of day to measure?
Measure your ring size at the end of the day when your fingers are largest. Your fingers swell and expand during the day and shrink in the morning and in cold temperatures.
What if my knuckle is a lot bigger than my finger base?
Take two separate measurements - one around your knuckle, and one around the base of your finger. Then size your ring in between the two measurements.
How will I know I have the right size?
A properly fitted ring should slide over your knuckle and then fit snugly and comfortably on your finger. It shouldn't spin around or slip off easily. If it feels too loose or tight, you likely need a different size.
Does band thickness affect ring size?
Yes, a thicker ring band can subtly reduce the inner diameter of a ring. If choosing between two sizes, go with the larger size for a thicker band.
What is the average ring size for women?
The average women's ring size is size 7 in the US. Sizes 6-8 are the most common.
What is the average ring size for men?
The average men's ring size is size 10 in the US. Sizes 9-12 are common.
Can I measure a ring I already own to find my ring size?
Yes, you can use a ring you own that fits that finger to measure the inner diameter and determine your size. Make sure it fits well - not too loose or tight.
Are men's and women's ring sizes on the same scale?
Yes, men's and women's ring sizes are measured using the same numerical scale, which corresponds to inner diameter in millimeters.
How do I secretly find out someone's ring size?
Ask a close friend or family member to subtly measure their finger or borrow a ring they wear on that finger. Or trace the inner circumference of one of their rings on paper when they aren't around.

Custom Items: Custom designed items will take 4 - 6 weeks to create and produce. USPS shipments come with the package's customs number indicating when the package leaves the United States. *USPS orders may be subject to a customs tax upon entering international countries, so please understand your country's import laws before using USPS*
*Please note that all solid gold, diamond, or custom orders are made to order. These orders may take 4 - 6 weeks to process due to each piece being individually made and inspected for quality assurance.
Undeliverable Packages:
We rely on our customers to provide an accurate delivery address and to ensure a reliable and safe delivery location for the package.
If a package is returned as undeliverable due to an improper, incomplete or invalid address, you will be offered the options of reshipping the package, for a $15 shipping and handling fee, or canceling the order (subject to a 15% restocking fee, to be subtracted from the order total prior to reimbursement. This is applicable for noncustom items only!). If we do not hear back from you within 7 business days of the failed delivery, we will proceed with cancellation and the associated fee.
Lost or Stolen Packages:
Gold Presidents is not responsible for lost or stolen packages, and deem the order agreement fulfilled upon successful indication of delivery, per the associated tracking number.
NOTE: Lost/ stolen packages are not eligible for a refund only for a replacement if the result from the MISSING CLAIM was presented.
