Flashy jewelry has always been the trademark for famous celebrities, especially rappers. Blinged or iced out chains, shiny pendants, grillz, and big rings have all taken a new level of status symbol for rappers and their artistry.
The devotion of rappers when it comes to the jewelry pieces they wear goes through a long history and this culture of showing ones’ wealth through jewelries can be traced back to the early years of hip-hop in the 1970’s. This same culture has helped shape the modern-day hip-hop scene where rappers are seen not only as artists but also as trendsetters.
Because hip-hop was not as mainstream before as it is today, rappers had to flash their jewelries as a statement and sign of their achievements. They wear the hottest and most expensive jewelries and there is always a kind of rivalry among rappers when it comes rocking the most iconic pieces.
As hip-hop developed into one of the top genres in the music industry, we also see more and more rappers with their jewelry collection. Today, we will look at five of the most famous rappers and their iconic (and insane!) jewelry pieces.
Kanye West or now simply known as Ye is indeed among the A-listers in the hip-hop industry. As an artist, Ye is respected by his colleagues and is loved by the audience.
Apart from his sold-out concerts and top-selling albums, Ye rocks massive chains and pendants. His Horus chain, which is in yellow and pure 24k gold, is estimated to be around $300,000. Similarly, Ye also has an incredible Jesus pendant that costs $200,000.

Rapper, songwriter, and record producer T-Pain also boasts insane chains. His infamous “Big Ass Chain” is a literal big chain weighing over 10 pounds. Made of only white and yellow gold with around 200 carats of diamonds, the chain costs a whopping $400,000.
Although T-Pain admitted in an interview that it was a ludicrous purchase as a result of a dare, “Big Ass Chain” is still listed among the most expensive pieces owned by an artist to date.
Another nod-worthy piece in this list is Lil Jon’s “Crunk Ain't Dead” chain. The American rap legend, DJ, and producer even received a Guinness World Record for this jewelry.
The “Crunk” chain, once regarded as the most significant diamond piece, stuns in white and yellow gold, and weighs 5.11 pounds. It costs roughly half a million dollars.
This list will not be complete without giving a nod to Pharrell’s custom gold chain, N.E.R.D. It is among the most expensive ones boasting an insane price of $1 million. For theHappy singer, this amount is worth every penny as the chain and the pendant definitely stands out among the pieces in this list. The chain and pendant are both covered in various colored diamonds. It is a tribute to Pharrell’s band and features his two bandmates.
Closing off this list is American rapper and record executive Rick Ross, who owns the most expensive item: a custom self-portrait chain. The chain features a portrait pendant of Rick and is around $1.5 million.
